At the Canadian Academy of Osteopathy, we’re proud to offer free osteopathic treatments to the community provided at our not-for-profit student clinic days.
Osteopathy is a non-invasive, safe, and effective approach to a variety of issues, and can help with problems such as back, neck, and shoulder pain, headaches, fatigue, chronic pain, and more. Osteopathic Manual Practitioners do this through restoring proper structure of the body so it can self-heal and self-regulate and function optimally.
The CAO’s FREE Student Clinic days provide free osteopathic treatment to the communities of Hamilton, Ontario and Calgary, Alberta. Osteopathic care is available in 30-minute appointment slots. Our students practice their skills on patient volunteers and are supervised by professional Osteopathic Manual Practitioners.
The CAO has provided over 100,000 FREE treatments across its clinics. That adds up to over 8 million dollars in osteopathic care given to our local communities!
Patient volunteers can come to the clinic for an assessment or for ongoing care. CAO students give back to the community while progressing through their education at the school and developing their clinical skills in an environment that benefits everyone.
KAREN Meiler2025-07-20 I have been going to CAO for a long time. I still go weekly for maintenance as I have issues with my back and knees. Treatments help to keep me moving with much less pain than I used to have. The students are perfecting their techniques and getting the practical skills they need, while we get the benefits of helping them out. Carole Chapple2025-07-17 I AM LOVING MY TREATMENTS AT CAO! As a patient for a few years, I have been faithfully attended the clinic once a week. The student practitioners are so helpful and I go home feeling great. I have told them I wish I could stay on the table all day I get so relaxed. The student staff get to the root of the problem (mine is sciatica mainly) and try to correct it through bending, stretching and manipulating the area back to normality. There is the odd student I have had who was not as effective for me (not enough pressure etc) but they are still learning in their fourth and final year of training. Bottom line is I am grateful for these gifted people with healing hands as they learn the important work of how our bodies function. They value us as much as we do them. The clinic supervisor is a great help as she goes around to give any advice and techniques needed to assist her students. Last but not least, staff is always cheerful, helpful, dressed professionally in white and black uniforms and the skilfully run office is there for assistance when needed. I totally appreciate Canadian Academy of Osteopathy Student Clinic. Carole C. Students arre always helpful and diligent. Amina Mursalova2025-05-31 I highly recommend Dr.Daniel. He is a professional at his job. My osteopath visit was incredibly thorough in understanding the root cause of my pain, not just the symptoms. Dr. Daniel was not just a doctor but also a compassionate and caring person. I felt like he genuinely cared about my well-being. He has magic hands. I had this health issue for 10 years and had seen many specialists and had undergone many treatments. But I felt a good result from the first visit to Dr. Daniel. Thank you, Dr. Daniel. Stan Simpson2022-11-21 I'VE recommend this service to everyone a guaranteed treatment for aches and pains. The CAO provides graduates of its program with a post-graduate diploma. Completion of the program does not result in being conferred a degree designation.
I actually started at McMaster with my kinesiology degree, spent some time working with some physios. I just really wasn’t liking some of the answers I was getting, so I spent some time with an osteopath, and I really just appreciated the thought process and the principle-based understanding of osteopathy, and I, for the first time, started to see patients getting better, and to me, that spoke volumes.
